In today’s competitive marketplace, being a qualified coach is often not enough. Increasingly, accreditation is required as a way of giving organizations the assurance of quality they need. With no formal regulation in the industry, coaches have to be able to demonstrate credibility and achievement of the highest professional standards.
There are many different accrediting bodies and this can make it confusing if you are trying to find a coach training course which will support you in your journey to become accredited.
At the AoEC we have ensured that our courses are accredited and recognized by the largest and most widely recognized bodies in the coaching industry. Our courses are also endorsed academically by Middlesex University.
As a graduate of both the Certificate and Practitioner programmes you will have 57 Coach Specific Training Hours from the 60 required by the International Coach Federation (ICF) at Associated Certified Coach (ACC) level. You will also fully meet the training requirements of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) at Practitioner level (equivalent to an undergraduate degree/NVQ level 5) and will have 20 Level 3 credits through Middlesex University.
As a graduate of our Advanced Practitioner programme you will have 127 Coach Specific Training Hours which is two more than is required by the ICF at Professional Certified Coach (PCC) level. You will also fully meet the training requirements of the EMCC at Senior Practitioner level (equivalent to a postgraduate certificate) and will have 40 Level 7 credits through Middlesex University.
Of course, you don’t have to attend an accredited training programme to become accredited yourself. However, the onus is then on you to prove to the accrediting body how your training was relevant to each of their competencies and this can be a significant amount of work.
When you train with any approved coach training provider, there is still more work to be done. You will need to meet additional criteria such as the number of hours coaching and supervision you have undertaken. This varies by accrediting body and each process is reassuringly rigorous. We recommend that you look at each of their websites to find out their requirements and also to consider which body will best meet your needs as you continue your professional development.
