Coaching as a Line Manager
Empower your managers with coaching skills training
Coaching as a Line Manager (CaaLM) is a dynamic modular programme designed for organisations committed to developing essential coaching skills in their managers and leaders. The CaaLM certificate will not only enhance communication style and options but will also provide managers with a pathway towards a coaching qualification should they wish to do so.
This programme is available in house, in-person or virtually using zoom.
Who is the programme for?
This course is perfect for line managers wishing to develop their interpersonal skills and who have an interest in learning how to use a coaching approach. Developing a coaching mindset would benefit leaders who are known for their functional expertise. Effective coaching skills will provide them with the tools to diversify their communication styles creating a positive managerial environment in your organisation.
The learning experience
Learning is shared through faculty-led sessions with hands-on practice in pairs and group work over four transformative months. The programme kicks off with a dynamic 2-day workshop followed by four engaging 2-hour CaaLM Conversations, where participants put theory into practice under the guidance of expert faculty.
CaaLM 2-day workshop
Day 1: Developing a Coaching Mindset
Day 2: CaaLM Skills
CaaLM Conversations (4 x two hour sessions)
Held monthly, in-person or virtually, these sessions create a collaborative space for faculty-led discussions and peer interaction in triads/quads.
The programme’s experiential style of learning allows you to practise coaching skills from day one and will enable you to better understand how and why coaching is an effective development tool.
Your learning will be supported to develop a trusted space with your colleagues, with a shared agreement on confidentiality. You will be encouraged to practice your skills and grow your confidence from personal and structured feedback.
How you'll learn
This live virtual and in-person programme combines theory and participation to allow you to practise coaching skills in person, gain insights into how line managers can use a coaching approach and how it can be applied in your line of work. You will work with your colleagues, in pairs and small groups throughout the course to practise coaching skills, gain peer feedback and embed your learning.
You will be led by expert faculty who will provide personal and direct feedback as you test your ‘coaching wings’ in small practice quads: coach, coachee, observer(s).
